The BRICS Youth Olympiad in Mathematics and Computer Science takes place in Kazan
Schoolchildren from 13 countries will compete in team and individual tests in the capital of Tatarstan
The BRICS Youth Olympiad in Mathematics and Computer Science began in Kazan, as part of the first BRICS Youth Festival.
The event takes place at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University. Over the course of two days, 131 gifted children aged 14-17 from 35 different municipalities of 13 countries will participate in both team and individual tests.
Schoolchildren from Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, India, Turkey, Ethiopia, Indonesia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Egypt and Iran participate in the Olympiad.
The capital of Tatarstan is represented by five winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad in mathematics and computer science: students of boarding school № 2 Ilyas Nasybullin, Sergey Nazyrov, Nikita Kostylev, as well as from school № 131 Timur Kotlyarov and IT Lyceum at KFU Artyom Timofeyev.
On the first day of the team competition, students solved mathematical problems and presented a computer science project related to urban development, from logistics optimization to data analysis. Tomorrow, individual math exams will take place.
Winners and medalists of the Olympiad will receive medals and diplomas and will also have the opportunity to participate in future scientific events at Kazan Federal University.
