From September 20 to 28, the capital of Tatarstan will host the first BRICS Youth Festival.
Kazan will welcome150 young people aged 14-17 from 35 different municipalities of 13
countries. A wide range of activities have been planned for them, including sports, recreational
events, an Olympiad in mathematics and computer science, and a tour of the main attractions of
the city. Aliya Zagudullina, Head of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, reported
about the program of the festival during a Business Monday meeting.
The first delegations will arrive in Kazan on September 20 Participants from various countries,
including Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, India, Turkey, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Belarus,
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, and Iran, are expected to attend the event.
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that the initiative to organize the festival was
announced at the Association of BRICS+ Cities and Municipalities last year in Dubai: «Very
little time has passed from our idea to its implementation, and we see how this initiative is
warmly supported by everyone. It is important that not only we communicate professionally and
exchange best practices, but also our children», – said the Mayor.
The main venue of the festival will be the Molodaya Gvardiya sports and recreation camp. Aliya
Zagudullina noted that the opening ceremony of the festival will take place on September 22 at
the Kamal Theater.
